Open Community Awareness Campaign – June 21, 2025
Location: Kagera Ward Office Grounds, Kigoma-Ujiji Municipality, Kigoma, Tanzania.
Over 700+ community members came together for a powerful open community awareness event focused on ending gender-based violence (GBV) and promoting sexual and reproductive health (SRH).
This vibrant campaign featured voluntary HIV testing, male condom distribution, and powerful edutainment by youth-led arts groups mentored by KIVIDEA. A total of 73 beneficiaries accessed SRH services during the event.
We were honored by the presence of local government officials, including community and ward leaders, the Youth Officer’s representative, and Guest of Honour Ms. Tabitha Mkiramweni—Assistant NGO Registrar & Community Development Officer, Kigoma-Ujiji—who urged the community to unite in reporting and ending GBV through legal and psychosocial support.
This activity directly contributes to the “Afya Yangu, Maendeleo Yangu” project goal of reaching over 5,400 adult community members with transformative SRH & GBV education and services by 2025.
It also reflects KIVIDEA’s long-term vision:
Empowered communities free from violence and injustice, where every individual can access rights-based health services and live with dignity.
