🔹 STRENGTHENING YOUTH-FRIENDLY SERVICES IN KIGOMA-UJIJI 🔹

Today, KIVIDEA successfully hosted a sensitization meeting with 10 government school heads and key institutional decision-makers in Kigoma-Ujiji, advocating for the adoption of minimum standards for youth-friendly services.

Led by KIVIDEA’s Executive Director, Mr. Babu Paschal Steven, and the project team, the meeting provided an overview of the Afya Yangu, Maendeleo Yangu (2023-2025) project, highlighting achievements over the past two years and the work plan for this final year. Encouragingly, discussions are underway with the funder [terre des hommes schweiz (tdhs)] to explore possibilities for extending the project for another three years due to the significant demand and positive outcomes!

🔹 Key Takeaways:
✅ Participants commended KIVIDEA’s initiatives and called for greater GBV intervention at the family level, identifying unfinished buildings as hotspots for child abuse in schools and communities.
✅ School heads emphasized the importance of committed club patrons and matrons to ensure sustainability and impact, recognizing the need for active engagement in monitoring youth-led clubs.
✅ Ms. Tabitha Mkiramweni, the Municipal NGO Coordinator, acknowledged the persistence of GBV cases, particularly defilement, and its contribution to rising HIV infections among children and youth. She applauded KIVIDEA’s efforts as a true government partner and an invaluable education stakeholder.

We appreciate everyone’s dedication to empowering young people and ensuring safer, youth-friendly environments! 🙌
