What we stand for
Values we put into practice
Each value below shapes the decisions we make with young people every day. Here is what each one means and how we live it.
Equality
Everyone deserves equal rights and a fair chance, whatever their gender. In practice, our programmes and life-skills sessions are open to young women and young men alike.
Participation
We involve young people in decisions about our work and partner with local groups to reach those who are often left out. In practice, our peer educators are young people themselves, trained to lead sessions with others their own age.
Resilience
We help young people work through hard times and build the strength to keep going. In practice, we offer counselling, school materials, and health insurance, always following our published safeguarding policy.
Integrity
Everyone at KIVIDEA is expected to be honest and to treat people fairly. In practice, we hold to our safeguarding and privacy policies in every programme.
Accountability
We take responsibility for our work and how we spend. In practice, our Board oversees how KIVIDEA is run and how its funds are used, independently of day-to-day management.
Volunteerism
Volunteers carry on the work our founders began, helping children and young people through difficult times. In practice, trained volunteers support our youth clubs and community activities alongside paid staff.
