Policy overview
A clear explanation of the personal information KIVIDEA collects through this website, why we use it, and the choices available to you.
Kigoma Vijana Development Alliance (KIVIDEA) respects your privacy. This notice applies when you browse this website, contact us, request quick support, volunteer, or submit a donation pledge. It is informed by Tanzania’s Personal Data Protection Act, 2022 (Cap. 44) and the Personal Data Collection and Processing Regulations, 2023.
We collect only the information needed for the interaction you choose:
Please do not send passwords, payment PINs, unnecessary medical details or sensitive information about a child through public forms.
We use personal information to answer enquiries, provide requested support, assess volunteer interest, administer and follow up pledges, keep the website secure, meet safeguarding and accountability duties, maintain appropriate records, and improve the website where optional analytics consent has been given. We do not sell personal information or use it for unrelated advertising.
Information about children requires additional care. KIVIDEA limits access to authorised people with a genuine safeguarding or service-delivery need. A child’s story or identifiable image should be published only with the required approval and documented consent, and never where publication could place the child at risk. Safeguarding concerns should be reported through the contact details below rather than included in a public form.
We may share the minimum necessary information with authorised KIVIDEA staff, vetted service providers that host or support our systems, professional advisers, delivery partners where needed for the service you requested, or public authorities where disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect someone from harm. Providers must handle information only for the agreed purpose and with appropriate safeguards.
We use access controls, authenticated administration, role-based permissions, audit records and other reasonable technical and organisational measures. No online system is completely risk-free. We keep records only for as long as needed for the stated purpose, safeguarding and accountability needs, applicable legal obligations, dispute resolution and secure backups; after that, records are deleted or anonymised in line with KIVIDEA’s retention process.
Subject to applicable law, you may ask to be informed about our processing, access or correct your information, request deletion or restriction, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, or raise a complaint. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information where the law or safeguarding duties require it. You may also complain to Tanzania’s Personal Data Protection Commission.
Essential storage keeps the website secure and remembers your cookie preference. It cannot be switched off through our banner. Optional analytics is off unless you accept it. You can reject it, accept it, or change your selection at any time using “Cookie settings” in the footer. Browser controls may also clear stored preferences.
Other websites linked from KIVIDEA have their own privacy practices. We may update this notice when our services or legal obligations change and will show the latest review date on this page.
