Youth health and protection
Every young person should be able to ask questions, understand their choices and reach care without fear or confusion. Across Kigoma-Ujiji and Uvinza, KIVIDEA works with trained peers, health providers and communities to strengthen knowledge, safer help-seeking and access to appropriate and friendly services.

Sexual and reproductive health and rights education for in-school and out-of-school adolescents
Prevention and response to gender-based violence
Prevention and referral for STIs and HIV
Work to reduce teenage pregnancy and child marriage
Mental health education, including drug and substance abuse
Who this is for
We work with young women and young men in Kigoma, both those in school and those who have left school. Our sessions and services are designed to fit the different needs of each group.
Our approach
Working with young people
We deliver this work close to young people and the communities around them. Trained peer educators lead sessions with others their own age, we promote youth-friendly services so young people feel able to seek help, and we run community campaigns that make it easier to talk openly about health. Where a young person needs more support, we refer them to the right services and follow our published safeguarding policy.
Results
The difference so far
10,288 other young people were educated through club sensitisation activities in schools.
82% of participants reported increased confidence, self-efficacy and agency to improve their lives and change the situation in their community.
About 3,800 young people reported accessing one or more sexual and reproductive health services, including community and peer-based referrals.
