Our story
In 1999, young people in Kigoma came together because children and peers facing difficult circumstances needed practical support. Their response became Kigoma Vijana Development Alliance. More than twenty-five years later, the same conviction remains at the heart of KIVIDEA: people closest to a challenge must help shape the response.
Our history
The journey so far
How KIVIDEA grew from a youth association into a registered NGO.
1999
Started by young people
A group of young people in Kigoma town formed KIVIDEA to help children and other young people in their community.
2000
First registration
The youth association was formally registered to work with children and marginalised young people in Kigoma Region.
2018
A Tanzania mainland mandate
KIVIDEA registered under the Non-Governmental Organizations Act and extended its mandate across Tanzania Mainland.
2023
Registration renewed
A new ten-year certificate of registration was issued under registration number 00NGO/R1/00390.
Today
Young people remain at the centre
KIVIDEA works through peer education, youth clubs, sports, creative arts, community engagement, and practical support.
